Counterfeit Fakers

Thanks to your help, we have found and removed over 350 fake accounts!

NOTE FOR CONTENT CREATORS: This guide has proven way more effective than we ever dreamed. Fourteen imposter accounts were taken down within twelve hours of this post being shared on social media, and many more since, thanks to our followers taking action. You are more than welcome to use it as a basis for your own guide to empower your community members to protect each other.

Hi. My name is Chris, and I’m the Community Manager for Carisa Hendrix and Lucy Darling. The fun part of my job is interacting with amazing fans just like you! The not fun part is dealing with imposter accounts. Boooo!

There are a lot of fake Carisa Hendrix and Lucy Darling accounts. I maintain a spreadsheet of the ones I’ve found or been informed of, and I regularly report them to their respective platforms. But for the most part - and anyone who has reported an account knows this well - the response is an automated "we looked and don't see any community standards violations." It's very frustrating, especially when I know some of these imposters are scamming innocent people out of money. But every now and again an account gets removed, so it’s worth the trouble.

Back in the day, most online scams were pretty easy to spot. They'd just be some outrageous scenario ("I'm secretly a prince and I'd like to transfer $43 million to you for safekeeping and all I need is your personal information"). But today they are more sophisticated. They will chat with you for days or even weeks, convincing you they are a real person before going after your wallet.

In order to arm you with information you can use to protect yourself and others, I offer this guide concerning the fakers…

What are the official social media accounts?

TikTok: carisahendrix and thelucydarling

Instagram: carisahendrix and lucydarlingmagic

YouTube: carisahendrix

Facebook (personal): carisa.hendrix

Facebook (business): HendrixEntertainment and TheLucyDarling

Reddit: There is no official user account but this subreddit is legit: /r/LucyDarling

Threads: carisahendrix

Rednote: 6784c32f000000000801acb2 (dormant but legitiamte)

Bluesky: carisahendrix.bsky.social and carisa.bsky.social (dormant but legitimate)

Snapchat: carisa_hendrix (new, mostly dormant so it looks fake, but it’s real)

There is now an official Facebook group, fittingly called the Super Official Lucy Darling Fan Group. It has the coat of arms and everything. Most importantly, you’ll see that the verified HendrixEntertainment page is the creator.

Are there backup or secret accounts?

No, there are not any "backup" accounts. Anything not listed above is to be treated with the utmost skepticism.

Some imposters will claim that the official accounts are controlled by managers, and so the secret accounts were created in order to reach out to fans directly. While it is true there is a team that assists in social media, Carisa is the captain of this ship and retains control.

What about Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp, Zangi, etc?

Nope. If any Carisa Hendrix or Lucy Darling account wants you to go to some other messaging platform, it's a scammer.

Facebook Groups and Discord Servers

Recently on Facebook, about a dozen groups have popped up, apparently all created and administered by the same person (using the names Lea Ette, Lola Adens, and Joyce Drake, among others). Only trust groups created by real people. Also, a “Lucy Darling Family” discord is pretending to be run by our team, and it is not. At this time, there is no official Discord server.

You should stay away from them, and report the administrators. You’ll find these groups and the various accounts of the administrators listed at the bottom of this post.

Why are there so many fake accounts?

Money. They want money.

Some fake accounts steal and repost content so they can collect advertising revenue and/or grow the followers until a certain point when they sell the account on the black market. While these accounts may seem harmless, eventually the followers will be manipulated for financial gain in some way. At the very least, they can mislead others when reposting old content (for example: a video that says “I’ll be in New York next week” but was originally posted months previously).

The more sinister accounts want to funnel you into a big scam. They'll chat with you privately, even spend quite a long time apparently getting to know you, and then they set the hook and ask for money. It's bad enough they prey upon your emotions, making you think you are really connecting with someone, but then it gets cheapened further when there is a cost attached.

How do I identify a scam?

Asking for money is the number one red flag, and is when most people suspect something is wrong. The fake accounts so far have been offering special show tickets or membership in a fan club, usually payable in the form of gift cards, bitcoin, or services like Zelle or WhatsApp.

But it may take a while before the conversation reaches that point, so what are some ways you can tell it's a fake Carisa Hendrix or Lucy Darling early on?

Check to see if it's an official account. If the name seems off, or the profile picture is not what you are used to, start being suspicious. Also look at the account ID, not just the display name (for example: you may see a "Carisa Hendrix" display name, but the account ID is carisahendrixbackupaccount instead of just carisahendrix).

Another way to tell is by the number of followers the account has. It varies by platform, but Carisa generally has a good-sized following (only Bluesky, Reddit, and Snapchat have fewer than 30,000), so someone showing up with just a few dozen friends or followers is probably fake. (This is not bragging about popularity, this is information you can use to protect yourself and others.)

Similarly, empty accounts are a big indicator. No posts? Sometimes not even a profile pic? That’s not a real Carisa.

In comments, if a Carisa asks you to send them a direct message (especially if they want you to go to another platform such as to Telegram), that's scammer behavior. They want to engage with you away from the public so others can't step in to warn you.

Be wary of "fan" accounts. This is language typically used to deflect from the fact they are stealing content. If it is just reposting content and not adding any value by way of commentary, it’s not a true fan. Real fan accounts do interesting things such as make new edits of content (way beyond simple cropping and color changing which is just to outsmart the bots that detect copied content).

Also, sometimes fan groups are created by scammers. On Facebook, look up who the administrators are - a lot of them are imposters or empty accounts. The strategy with groups is to collect many members and then sell ownership of the group to a spammer. Unless the group is maintained by a real person, you’ll want to steer clear.

If you receive a direct message out of the blue, it's probably not Carisa. It's possible that could happen, but if you don't already have an established relationship - if all you did was comment on a single post - it's probably not real. There is no random drawing of fans to contact. If you get a real message from the real Carisa, it should not be a surprise to you.

In direct messages, many scams begin by thanking you for liking or commenting on their page, and then ask how long you've been a fan. While that seems reasonable enough, asking how long you've been a fan is a step too far into making the conversation about Carisa and not you. Carisa certainly is interested in getting to know fans, but duration of fandom is perhaps the least important thing about you.

If they explain the new account as a way to get around management and need to keep it secret, it's a fake. Carisa maintains ultimate authority on all accounts and no manager is going to seize control.

A lesser category of bad accounts are the content reposting bots. They are not pretending to be Carisa or Lucy - they often have usernames that are just a random string of letters and numbers. When you look at their posts, you’ll see posts stolen from a wide variety of other content creators. Their game is to repost a bunch of videos from a popular account, get a bunch of followers, then move on to repost content from another popular account. At some point they’ll get enough followers to make a sale to some scammer.

What should I do if I encounter a scam account?

Most importantly, you should report the account using the options available within that social media platform. Though it seems most reports are met with an automated “we see no problem” message, we have seen some get removed so we know reports occasionally get through. If you initiated or accepted a friend request, unfriend them so they don't go after your other friends.

Some site specific reporting tips:

  • Facebook: Facebook’s options for reporting impersonators want you to choose between friend, celebrity, or business. Surely Carisa is a celebrity, right? Well it turns out those are options for the type of profile you want to report. Carisa’s Facebook accounts are a personal profile (which would fall under friend) or business accounts (which would fall under… business). So if you can’t report them as impersonating @carisa.hendrix, report as impersonating a business and type @HendrixEntertainment or @TheLucyDarling for the selection to come up. When Facebook comes back with an automated “no problem here” message, click on the Options button to see if you can request a second review. Sometimes that one works.

  • TikTok: Within the TikTok app, you can only report an impersonation of a verified account, but if you use the website you can select any person. After you submit a report, TikTok will come back with “no violation” in exactly half an hour, but don’t let that discourage you. For whatever reason, they send that automatically, regardless of whether or not they take action - I’ve seen accounts get closed down even with that message. You cannot make multiple reports of a single account within a 24-hour period.

  • Gmail: If a scammer is using a Gmail account, you can report it here: https://support.google.com/mail/contact/abuse Do this BEFORE you mark the message as spam, because spam messages get irretrievably removed from your account.

If you want to be more active, here are other actions you can take:

  • If the fake account is posting stolen content, you can comment on those posts, explaining they are fake and pointing other users to the real accounts. Recommend the other users report the account too, increasing the chances that it gets removed.

  • If the fake account is responding to other user comments with something like "please send me a private message" also respond to the original user's comment with the same warning (if you respond to the scammer's comment, the potential victim may not receive a notification).

  • Bonus Round: If the account is sending you private messages perhaps you may want to toy with them. Play along. Act as if you believe everything they say. Get them to ask for money. This is the best point to report their messages, as that's more likely to fall under the umbrella of "goes against community standards." If it's just a conversation about how long you've been a fan, that doesn't necessarily look suspicious to a site moderator, but "send me an Apple gift card" is pretty obviously a scam.

    • A secondary benefit of engaging them in private chat is that the more time they spend with you, the less time they have to scam someone else.

    • Only do this if you are having fun. If it ever begins to feel like a chore, a task, or (ugh) a job, quit. Report them and move along.

Note:
If you interact with the fake account, there is a chance they will catch on and block you. When that happens you will no longer be able to see them (you may believe the account has been banned) and the game is over for you. It may feel like you are a pawn being sacrificed, but rest assured that we appreciate your service.

Known Active Scammers

Below is a list of active scam accounts I am aware of. Report them, block them, include them when you cast spells of retribution. If you find a new one that's not on this list, please send details my way via email: chris@carisahendrix.com

When you tell us about a new scammer, please include enough information so I can look them up myself. That's both the platform (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, etc) and the username (not just the display name, but the account name). The web address would be ideal, though a screenshot of their profile should suffice in most cases.

I'd also love to see the conversations you are having with them, as much as you are willing to share (some people are revealing a bit too much when they think they are conversing with Carisa, and I respect if you don't want to pass that along to me). The information about early identification above is thanks to a few individuals who were gracious enough to share their full conversations with me, and not just the "send me money" parts.
